Rhodes, Greece is a magical destination. The island in the South Aegean is part of the Dodecanese group and has been inhabited since the stone age. In medieval times, a walled city was build out of stone and is now an enthralling place to visit, explore, get lost, eat in, and photograph.
Gabriel arrived several days before me and had a chance to explore and get to know the layout of the city. We stayed at a 500 year-old hotel within the ancient city walls. Hotel Atiki was a friendly place, and home to many cats.
Cats! Cats everywhere! Greece is know for its love of the feral feline population.
For several days we wandered and got lost within the labyrinth of the city, a photographer’s delight of vibrant, modern colors and ancient earth tones.
This outdoor pub under the shade of large, mature trees was one of my favorite places to eat Horiatiki Salad (translates to “Village Salad,” known as Greek Salad to you and me) and drink a mug of ice cold beer to combat the humid heat.
